The site also posts links to news stories. One that caught my eye was a class action lawsuit filed against 99 cents stores for a price increase. No I am not making this up. Here is what an attorney who is part of the lawsuit had to say:
"If they call themselves 99 Cents Only, it should be 99 cents," said Dan Callahan, an Orange County lawyer. "We had a survey done before we filed the lawsuit to see how many people thought they were paying 99 cents, and it was just about unanimous that nobody realized that they were paying more than 99 cents. The people who go to that store are typically lower income or seniors, so the people they're taking advantage of are the ones least able to discern the difference and least able to afford it."
When I was a very young lad we had stores that were known as Five and Dimes. They were basically the precursor to today's dollar stores, or it this case, 99 cents stores. Was everything in there either five cents or ten cents in price? Of course not. And even as a young kid I understood that.

This is sad and pitiful for people to do that.. Basketball Town, I wish there was one here.. heck, every town needs a place like that. Those abusers will have what they deserve coming for them sooner or later.. and it won't be pretty.
